Game Report: Over the Edge
Last night, Keith Baker ran a session for us of the surreal role-playing game called Over The Edge (OTE). Keith's been a close friend of mine for over 20 years, but he's also a world-famous game designer (creator of the D&D setting known as Eberron) who's also written a bunch of scenarios for OTE which have been published in expansion books by Atlas Games. It's pretty cool playing an RPG with the creator of the material as your GM, and we all had a lot of fun. The players were myself, [info]looneykristin, Alison, and Robin, and our characters are all currently trapped in a mysterious place called the Rose Hotel. I was playing my usual OTE character, a guy named Frank who *everybody* knows, but Frank will be taking a back seat when we resume this scenario; it's unlikely we'll have time to continue this soon, now that GenCon is underway, and who knows when we'll be seeing Keith again (he lives in Colorado) so I'm planning to take over as the GM and continue the game with the ladies after we get home.

Ooh, I love OTE! It's one of the most delightfully surreal games I've ever played, and so different from your standard dungeon crawl/epic quest kind of games that you see too much of. I probably haven't played it in about 10 years, though.
